In Zhengzhou Henan 7 years ago, we started a love affair with Chinese culture and people that would link us forever. This little girl at the encouragement of her father posed for this picture with big girl, and at once, we realized that friendship and commonality come through shared interests and basic humanity. I look back on this picture today and see so much that I have never seen. The Monkey grass growing in the zoo in Zhengzhou is the exact Monkey grass growing in our backyard, pony tails and sandals on girls. Shyness and enthusiasm sometimes mimic each other. Big girl appears less than enthusiastic, but reality was "that was such a cool pic mom". In China, at that time, foreigners were unusual. Things haven't changed much as most Chinese people still have never met or even seen a foreigner in person. So it becomes a magical event to have a photo taken with a "big nose". So it is with wonder and fondness that I include all these pics in this post. Also many of our favorites of meeting our children in their homeland. And a couple of children of our heart are pictured here as well. Love
